In 2017, Avon Argentina became the first company in the country to implement a policy to support employees experiencing gender-based violence (GBV). Earlier this month, Avon was declared of social interest by the City of Buenos Aires Parliament and was invited to Parliament to share its experience in developing the initiative.
At the meeting Axel Gegenschatz, General Manager of the South Market Group, and Florencia Yanuzzio, Avon Foundation Argentina Director, joined consultants from the civil association La Casa del Encuentro, members of the government and representatives from local NGOs.,
An interdisciplinary panel of women shared their views on the how the policy was created and implemented, as well as the challenges they faced. Launching this policy has attracted interest from other companies in Argentina seeking advice and guidance on how to roll out similar initiatives. It also raises awareness of gender-based violence more broadly and educates people on how to take action against it.
This initiative in Argentina supports Avon and the Avon Foundation for Women’s worldwide commitment to help end gender-based violence and support victims and their families, as part of the Avon Promise to Help End Violence Against Women and Girls.
