Avon Institute Brazil and the Hospital de Amor (a specialist Cancer Hospital in Barretos, Brazil) have signed a partnership with the government of Bahia to increase the Breast Cancer prevention programme in the state.
The agreement, signed this month, includes a donation of $ 3.7 million from the Brazil Avon Institute. This will allow 80,000 women per year to have access to breast examinations and treatment across five of the state's health centres.
The initiative expands the mammographic screening in the region, providing preventive exams for women who don't yet present symptoms of the disease, to try and detect breast cancer at an early stage.
