Avon Operations Polksa recognised for recycling efforts
The Avon Operations Polska (AOP) factory in Garwolin, Poland has released data showing its recycling thousands of tonnes of primary raw materials and reducing greenhouse gas emissions every year.
AOP is monitored by Interseroh, an international company specialising in environmental protection and recycling of packaging. They certified that in 2016 AOP recycled 8,648 tonnes of primary raw materials and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 1,643 tonnes - that’s equivalent to the weight of 15 Airbus aircraft and the impact of 600 cars on the atmosphere.
Christof Vollstedt, Factory Manager at AOP says: “We’re proud of our efforts and we’ll continue to focus on minimising our environmental impact. At all points in the packaging lifecycle it’s important that we, as a producer, both try to use as few natural resources as we can and then recycle as much of what is used as possible.”
AOP produces cosmetics that are distributed to over 59 countries around the world. Committed to upholding Avon’s longstanding commitment to focus on continuous improvement and manage its environmental footprint, Christof Vollstedt adds: “The numbers here show the level of impact we can have and we’re pleased to be recognised for our efforts but we will continue to drive for improvement.”
