In conjunction with the 16 days of activism against violence again women, Avon Chile contributed funds to help open the first ever children’s playroom and amusement space in a shelter for women. This playroom will be used as a recreational space for boys and girls, whose lives have been affected by violence.
This initiative, in collaboration with the Honra Foundation, will create a space of joy, play and learning for the children of women who are staying at the shelter. The playroom is a safe space and will be supported by professionals who will work with the women to end the cycle of violence.
The shelter is located in the Valparaíso region and is dependent on funds from the National Service for Women and Gender Equality (SernamEG) and run by the Honra Foundation. It acts as a temporary home, where women can access comprehensive support that involves counseling, legal and psychological support for them and their children until their risks are reduced and an intervention plan is underway.
