Avon Brazil has launched a series of campaigns celebrating and highlighting the sporting achievements of some of Brazil’s top female sportspeople, including sponsorship of the Flamengo Regatta Club in Rio de Janeiro.
Marta Vieira da Silva, a Brazilian footballer who has been recognised as the best soccer player in the world five times over and was recently selected as a UN Women’s Goodwill Ambassador, is also staring in Avon's Big & Extreme mascara advertising. She stars alongside actress Paolla Oliveira, and multimedia artist and trans-activist Rosa Luz.
"The campaign invites the public to focus more attention on giving women more visibility, particularly in sport," says Juliana Barros, Executive Director of Marketing for Avon in Brazil.
Brazilian athletes including Hortencia, Magic Paula, Maurren Maggi, Ingrid Oliveira, Lais Souza and Branca Feres supported the campaign by wearing Avon Brazilian t-shirts on social networks and asking for more recognition of the achievements of women in the sporting arena.

Marta commented: "I am proud to work with a brand that has such strong values and supports such important causes for women. This campaign helps reinforce the need to value women in sport, so that we can grow even more and win the respect of all."
Avon Brazil's support for women's sport is not new; female street races were started by the company back in the 1980’s.
