Innovative breast health campaign in Poland wins recognition

Avon Poland was recognised in the Responsible Business Report for its work on women’s health, particularly raising awareness of breast cancer.

Avon Poland was recognised in the Responsible Business Report for its work on women’s health, particularly raising awareness of breast cancer.  This is Poland’s largest review of practices in the area of sustainable development, which premiered at a virtual gala that included the Polish Ombudsman.

To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2019, Avon Poland launched the Day for U campaign, encouraging women to dedicate one day in the year for a breast ultrasound and  companies to give women a day off to have a health check.  The Avon office became a clinic to test employees on site.

To promote the campaign, over 300 Avon Representatives and Associates disappeared from their social media channels for one day.  In the morning, they posted a graphic with the campaign logo, followed by a post in the evening with a photo explaining that Day for U is a day for an ultrasound that every women should take once a year.

The campaign also took over the media. One of the most popular morning shows in Poland, Dzień Dobry TVN, started without its female host Małgorzata Ohme, as she had taken a Day for U.  Avon Poland also produced a video starring two famous singers – Justyna Święs and Andrzej Smolik – which highlights the importance of Day for U.  Avon Poland also co-funded 10,000 ultrasounds.

“We are delighted that our Day for U campaign has been recognised in the report. It is a powerful initiative that we will continue to build on.  I want to thank everyone who was involved in this effort – our success is down to fantastic teamwork, especially the terrific engagement from our Associates and Representatives,” said Ania Jakubowski, General Manager Avon Poland.
