Serbia gains recognition for gender sensitivity

Avon is renowned for its support of women across the globe, and Avon Serbia is the latest market to be recognised for its work for women. They have been honoured in the category “Most Gender Sensitive Company” by the Association of Business Women in Serbia, which is the biggest national organisation of female entrepreneurs. They work with AmCham, UN Women, and the Serbian government to advocate legislation changes, provide education, and support female entrepreneurs, all of which are causes close to Avon’s foundations.

This year, for the first time, the Association of Business Women in Serbia has created a special category competition for socially responsible companies that are supporting gender equality and respecting human rights.

The application was based on two themes: “Internal organisation and corporate culture” and “Public activities towards women empowerment.” Avon was names runner-up in the category, recognising its company values, non-discrimination policy, respect for human rights, number of female vs. male employees, percentage of women in leadership positions, ( 78% in Serbia), charity campaigns around breast cancer awareness and violence against women, and the promotion of female financial independence.

Miroslava Marjanovic Pavlovic from Avon Serbia is proud to be adding to Avon’s unparalleled record of championing women, “We have always taken pride in being the company for women, focusing on their empowerment. We are honoured that other businesses and organisations acknowledge it as well.”
